Love Notes is the title of Chris Korblein’s latest CD release. A full year in the making, this CD is the “record I always wanted to make,” Korblein reflects. The eleven nonvocal songs as well as the beautifully eloquent “Since You’re No Longer Mine” (sung by Lori Jenaire) reflect a wide stylistic variety. Incidentally, the question of stylistic definitions is one of Chris’ least favorite topics. “It has always been a challenge for me and many other contemporary instrumental artists to define the style of music we’re playing,” he explains, “in some markets they call it Jazz, in some markets ‘world music’ and in some markets it’s ‘Smooth Jazz’. The truth is, it’s none of the above or all of the above.”

You may call it what you want and have Chris’ blessing “as long they call it something that makes other people want to listen, I’m perfectly fine with these definitions. Otherwise I would simply invite you to take a listen and hear for yourself”.

Love Notes was recorded in the Fall of 2005 and through the summer of 2006. It features performances by Ray Parker Jr. and Saxophonist Steve Cole on the upbeat “Boys’ Night Out” and a live string section on the poetic “For a Lover” and dramatic “Dreamless”.
